We Be Road Trippin'

Awww, road trips. I haven't been on a road trip with my friends in FOREVER!!! This weekend I had the opportunity to go on a short but fun trip to Kansas City with my friends Jeri and Kristin. We had a snow storm come through the day before so we hoped the roads would be clear and they were! It did make for one beautiful ride though. Check out the photo above, I took while driving down the road. God is good, is He not?

My friend Kristin had some fun music on so we were dancing and singing to some Lady Gaga, Fort Minor, Killers, etc. It was an eclectic selection of music. I like eclectic! I was a little sad that I didn't get to go with my awesome friend Petie to look for a bridal gown but I am super glad I had the opportunity to hang with the girls for the day.

We did what any girls would do when they are together in a car for a long period of time. We TALKED!!! We talked about a lot of things; boys, where we will be in the future, where we were gonna eat once we got to The Plaza, where we were gonna go shop at the Plaza, and so on and so on.

So, we finally roll into KC and went and did what we actually went up there for. My friend Jeri directed an awesome play this year at her school and she borrowed some costumes from a school in KC. So, we were there to return them. Once we had done that we headed to the Plaza. There we ate at this amazing pub call O 'Dowd's Little Dublin. When you walk into this place it just feels Irish. I mean this is what I imagine an Irish pub in Ireland would look like. Dark wood floors, walls, and chairs, big comfy booths with those high windows, and Irish music playing throughout the pub. It was a lot of fun!

So, we decided to order these chicken wings which sounded yummy. They had a Guinness honey sauce on them and we jumped at the chance for those. By the time they came out we were ravenous! So, my friends dug in and Kristin absolutely loved them but Jeri wasn't sure. They were too hot for her. I was hesitant because recently I have come to love some spicy foods but not all so I grabbed a wing and took a bite and OH MY GOSH...they were delicious! Crunchy, sweet but with a kick! They are by far the BEST wings I have ever had. Even though my lips were tingling from them it was a pain that was a good pain. I guess I must be a masochist. ;-)

Well, once we were done with that our food, ever so promptly, came out. Kristin got fish and chips, Jeri got corn beef and cabbage and I got Irish Pub Stew. Mmmmm! That was the best stew I have ever had! When it comes out it has this puff pastry on top so you don't really see what is in the stew until you uncover it. I was shocked when I pulled back the pastry. There were huge chunks of lamb and beef, potatoes, carrots and green beans. The girls had to help me eat it because there was waaaaay too much. Man, was it yummmmmy!

After lunch we decided to walk around the Plaza and do some shopping, or simulated shopping. We didn't have much time so we went to a few stores and just looked around. First stop: Anthropology. I have never been here but I love their stuff! We had so much fun playing dress up and looking at all of the things we would get if we had the money. Next stop: Armani. The only reason we went into this store was because my friend Jeri wanted to get a picture with one of their suited mannequins.  To our dismay, there were no suited mannequins. :-( Oh well, on the stop #3: The Rally shop. This place had a bunch of KU, KSU, KC stuff. Stop #4 was supposed to be the MAC make up store but something caught my eye and I gasped, "Is that and Apple store?!" It sure was! So stop #4 was the Apple Store! It was awesome! I love going in here. Where else do you get to play with all of Apple's gadgets? I know best buy has them but it's just not the same. Well, we walked in and I don't know which one said this but one of my friends said, "Whoa!" and I am guessing that was their reaction to how many people were in the store. There were quite a few but I have been in one with more people. (If you can't tell, I am a Apple geek and proud of it!) We then went to another store but quickly after headed on home. I was soooo tired that I almost fell asleep in the car but I didn't.

We got home just in time to see KU whip KSU! This is the first time in a long time I have watched a KU basketball game because every other time I have they lose and we thought it was because I was a jinx. I am only half kidding here. ;-) Well, I hope you have enjoyed my ramblings on my little outing to KC. I hope you all have a great week!
