So, I am finally getting around to posting about my awesome trip to the south! I went to South Carolina to visit my best friend, Jeri Lyn! I was so excited because we had a lot of things planned. I got into Atlanta at around 9 pm and we had so much traffic that we stayed there to have dinner so the traffic could die down before heading to SC. Of all the places to eat in the south we ate at the Cracker Barrel! I can have that any time back home but it sounded good to us and I LOVE their Coca-Cola Chocolate cake so it turned out perfect. :-) Of course, while there, we did some necessary shopping. We looked through all of the Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations and dreamed of a reason as to why we needed them. We resisted the urge to buy them of course but we did find this gem.
She will kill me for posting this but it's too funny not to! Love you Jer!
Well, Saturday we woke up and headed up to Lake Keowee (pronounced like Kiwi) for the Scarecrow Fest. While there we did some kayaking. I have never done it before and for some strange reason I was nervous. I don't know why because the water was only 5'-6' deep. I think I just didn't want to get wet. We had a blast! Two men helped us out that day, Chris and Will. They drove us down to the lake in their vehicle "The Beast", set us up in a kayak, waited for us to finish and then drove us back up to the site. On the way back up Will drove us and we got stuck on a steep part of the trail and the mule almost tipped back onto me and Jeri! We stood up and leaned back to prevent it from falling back but the mule kept rolling back. We found out why...Will, the driver, had jumped out and left us in a runaway mule! So Chris jumped into action and stopped it. We gave Will such a hard time. That day we also went up into the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina to see the Whitewater Falls. They were amazing! The scenery was spectacular and I didn't want to leave. After about a million pictures and exhaustion we decided to head home.
On Monday, We went to Greenville, SC to explore. It's a cute city with a small town feel. I loved it and wouldn't mind living there. I am trying to convince my folks to retire there. ;-) We did some shopping, ate some yummy food at a local cafe and then we went to explore Falls park. It has a single suspension bridge there that is nestled in a cute and beautiful park. I took so many photos that Jeri ended up taking a nap under a tree. It was an awesome day for this...warm, sunny, just wonderful!
Tuesday was my last day in the south and we got up at the butt crack of dawn to head back to Atlanta. We decided that since I had to be there to fly out that we would enjoy ourselves so we went to the World of Coca-Cola and the Georgia Aquarium! It was awesome! We tasted a ton of different Coke products and we some amazing animals as well as found some awesome souvenirs! Below is a video of one of the Manta Rays in the Ocean Voyager exhibit doing flips. If you lsiten closely you can hear a man, who works at the aquarium, explaining to 2 sweet little girls why the Manta Ray is doing tricks, as the girls put it.
I had a wonderful time with a wonderful friend and I can't wait to go back and visit again!
Here are some photos from my trip:
